News and Notes:

  • This Week’s No. 88 FlexSeal/Menards Ford F-150… The No. 88 ThorSport Racing team will unload chassis No. 57 for Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) 37 Kind Days 250 at Kansas Speedway. This chassis was last seen at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this season.
  • Kansas Speedway Stats… Matt Crafton has 17 starts at Kansas Speedway since 2001. The Menards driver’s success includes 106 laps led en route to two wins (2013 and 2015), five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. Furthermore, among active series drivers, Crafton has the most starts (17), is tied with Kyle Busch for the most wins (2), is tied with Johnny Sauter for the most top-five finishes (5), has the most top-10 finishes (8), and has the most lead lap finishes (10).
  • Race Rewind – Kansas (2017)… Crafton started second, finished fifth in Stage 1 and 10th in Stage 2, but a late-race spin would relegate the Menards driver to a 16th-place finish in the 167-lap event.
  • Take me back – Dover… Crafton started the 200-lap event from the 10th position, finishing seventh in Stage 1 and third in Stage 2. In what came down to a battle of the veterans on a green-white-checker flag restart, Crafton finished a season-best second at the “Monster Mile.”
  • 2018 Stats… In five starts this season, Crafton has led 11 laps en route to two top-five finishes (Atlanta & Dover). The Menards driver has a season-best start of second (Atlanta), and a season-best finish of second (Dover).
  • Veteran-Size Stats… Crafton holds the record for consecutive starts (412) in the NCWTS. Among his success in the past 17 seasons, the two-time champion has earned 13 poles, and led 2467 laps en route to 14 wins, 104 top-five and 244 top-10 finishes.
  • Catch Crafton at Kansas… Crafton will be at the Kansas City North Menards store (8901 N. Green Hills Road Kansas City, MO) on Thursday, May 10 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. CT.

Chatting with Matt Crafton…
“The asphalt at Kansas is getting better with age – we can move around a little more now. I was one of the drivers that wasn’t happy when they repaved it – it had gotten really, really good – but it’s getting there again. The track allows for a lot of drafting, which makes it fun for the fans. We’ve had some success there in the past, and I’m looking forward to getting back there this weekend.”
